Are you struggling in your philosophy courses? Would you like to explore philosophy further but you don't know where to start? Would you like to improve your logic skills?

Look no further! I'm offering you the possibility of getting tutored in philosophy in order to solve these issues. Together we can set up a game plan tailored to your own needs and interests so that you can improve these skills and learn more about philosophy. I will make sure that you not only come out of these sessions with a full understanding of the texts we read, but that you can also take home different ways in which philosophy can benefit you in your everyday life through exercising your critical thinking skills.

Don't like reading that much? That's okay!

Philosophy is a conversational field. We can just talk about philosophical issues and arguments, and find ways for you to form your own beliefs and to navigate through these problems.

What I offer is tutoring in philosophy that is grounded on learning a set of specific skills that is highly relevant for everyday life:

  • Critical thinking: How to think critically about something, which involves finding issues and providing answers to a reasoning. This is highly relevant for job fields that require problem solving skills such as in finance, management, programming, IT, etc.
  • Logic: Understanding different kinds of arguments and reasonings is extremely beneficial for you to recognize what certain ideas might entail and whether or not an argument makes sense logically other than its truthfulness. This skill is extremely important in programming, IT, copywriting, politics, etc.
  • Communication skills: These skills are crucial for you to better express your thoughts in everyday life. They are especially necessary when you want to offer a solution to a problem.
  • ... and more!

The difference between my approach and what you might find in school or university is that our tutoring sessions will be tailored to your needs. Starting as a self-learner is also not easy sometimes, as philosophy is conversational and you often need somebody to let you know about things that you would not necessarily get on your own while reading a certain text. That's why I'm here to help you make your self-learning experience more fruitful (and fun!).

Hi, I’m Emmanuel

I'm currently a Ph.D student in philosophy in Canada, and I recently obtained my Master's in philosophy from Concordia University. I started as a self-learner before enrolling into a B.A and going further through academia.

I have over 4 years of experience teaching and tutoring philosophy. My experience ranges from creating workshops for the elderly in retirement homes to lecturing for undergrads in introductory courses. My areas of specialization are mainly continental philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, philosophy of love, history of philosophy, and ancient Greek philosophy. Even if our philosophical interests are not related, I will be devoted to making sure that you leave our sessions as an autonomous thinker.

You can find my CV and my credentials here!

Is this really for me?

This tutoring is for students who struggle in their philosophy courses as well as for those who would like to get started in philosophy but don't really know how to start. It's also for those who find themselves lacking some of the skills outlined above and who would like to improve further. It doesn't matter what background knowledge you have as we will always find something for you to improve and take home regardless of how much you already know about philosophy. If you still have some doubts, you can feel free to send me a message and we can discuss this further!

Where is this taking place?

This tutoring is offered online. We meet via Skype, Zoom or even Discord! We can meet face-to-face if you live in the region of Montreal.

When is it happening?

We go at your own pace! There's no stress, no pressure, and I'm not here to impose on you a schedule that doesn't work for you. I usually recommend that we meet once a week for a minimal duration for four (4) weeks. That way we can keep a continuous learning progress going on. After that, we are free to meet as many times as you'd like. Each session lasts an hour.

How much does it cost?

The rate is $30 CAD per session (so $30/h). This also includes unlimited access to all interactive exercices, PDFs, books, and other resources that will be made available to you through learn-philosophy.com/home.
